New Feature: Pattern of the Month
As I have been expanding the fabric and crafts section in the shop I’ve realized a lot of my customers want to be creative, they want to design and make their own things but something is stopping them. Anything from a lack of confidence in their abilities, to not knowing where to find a pattern or how to pick one that would work for them put road blocks on their creative journey.
With that in mind I came up with an idea - how about I select a sewing pattern each month to highlight?? Something easy enough for a beginner and that could fit a wide range of personalities and/or body types. I could even have a few mock-ups in the shop to show how different fabrics change the look of a pattern. With the choice made of what to make I thought it would be easier for my customers to just let their inspiration flow.
The inaugural pattern I chose… Very Easy Vogue Pattern V9237. It is described as a Misses’ A-Line Back Ruffle Dress.
It fit the criteria perfectly - easy to sew, easy to wear and can be made in a variety of different fabrics and combinations for different looks. Plus a dress with no zippers and no button holes is a great place to start!
So come into the shop, see the examples I’ve made and let me help you get started on your creative journey. At this point I am not selling the patterns in the shop but, I have a great selection of apparel and quilting fabric options, including Liberty of London cottons and Italian linen. I am here to talk to you through which fabrics would work great, how much you need and the option of combining patterns / colors. Of course if you get stuck at any point in making the dress I am just a phone call away (or stop in to the shop!).
My goal with this feature is to get you excited about sewing and create a community of people working on the same project together. I encourage you to send in pictures of your finished dresses or wear it into the shop to show me. I can’t wait to see your interpretation of this month’s pattern. If you do post it on social media please use the hashtag #BluePeonyPOTM so our community can find you.
Happy Sewing! xo, J.
